Bizport Keeps World Cycling Event Covered In Digital Signage

Bizport Race Photo 4According to Glenn Childress, President/CEO of Bizport in Richmond, Virginia—“This was the biggest thing that ever came to Richmond!”

When the UCI Road World Championship 2015 came to Richmond on September 20th, it was the first time this premier cycling event was held on U.S. soil since 1986 in Colorado Springs, Colorado. And Bizport, a full service digital print service provider (and a ReproMAX Partner II company) made sure their signage was perfect.

Childress says the process for the city of Richmond was four years in the making. Bizport responded to the RFP and endured stiff competition from national vendors. But in the end, the organization wanted a local company to produce the signage and according to Childress “It helped that we were located on the course!”

Bizport brought their “A” game to the project by utilizing their HP Indigo, two Scitex presses and a Zund cutter in Bizport Race Photo 6creative and imaginative ways. Childress says they used their Zund cutter in some fairly unique situations, as evidenced by the photos.

Bizport has three locations, one in Richmond, Virginia, one in Virginia Beach and one in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. While 33 percent of their business comes from the AEC market, their wide format digital color printing is really taking off according to Childress, who is also a competitive cyclist. They are also contemplating offering an event signage sports solution on a national level. Bizport also prints and installs vehicle wraps, magnets and other substrates.
